A team of medical (clinical) negligence colleagues from our Hull and Lincoln offices are taking on personal challenges this June to help support people affected by pregnancy loss.
The Miscarriage Association have launched a month long initiative to raise funds and awareness to continue to support the charity’s work in providing vital support and information to those affected.
An estimated 1 in 4 pregnancies are lost to miscarriage, ectopic or molar pregnancy, and the Miscarriage Association are spending the month reflecting on that figure by raising awareness of the issues surrounding pregnancy loss.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the Miscarriage Association, and as a result, their initiative is asking people to complete an activity associated with the number 4.
Each member of our team will take up a personal challenge that means something to them, and they will post updates on the firm’s social media pages to mark their progress.
Nicola Evans, Partner at Bridge McFarland, who is heading the challenge, said:
“The members of the team either have personally, or know someone who has been affected by baby loss, not only in our personal life but in our professional life as medical negligence lawyers. Whilst baby loss is sadly something that can happen, sometimes it can be prevented and by joining in this campaign we wish to support not only the Miscarriage Association with their fundraising but also those families that have been wrongly affected by baby loss who need answers to why it has happened to them.
I have chosen to run 40 miles in June. Those who know me will understand this is a big challenge for me. Being a lawyer and mother places demands on you, that means sometimes, you don’t put yourself first. In June, I will be taking this challenge to get fitter, healthier and support a charity that I hold dear to my heart.”
The Miscarriage Association is a UK wide charity that offers support and information to anyone affected by miscarriage, ectopic or molar pregnancies. They aim to provide one to one support services, online resources and have, over the years, supported thousands of people to get through the emotional and physical distress of pregnancy loss.
The Miscarriage Association also works with health professionals to promote good practice in medical care, support clinical research and raise public awareness.
