Medical negligence team help client with a case
Our medical negligence team in our Grimsby office has supported a client through their claim and helped them win £3,000 in damages.
Our client had a history of psychological issues and had attempted suicide previously.
In September 2012 our client was referred to Open Minds in Grimsby due to deterioration in their condition as there were a number of family issues going on and our client was awaiting hip replacement surgery.
Following surgery our client was kept under review at Open Minds where they noted our client to be suffering a very low mood and that they did not have an interest in anything. Our client from their observations was feeling tired and had a lack of motivation.
Antidepressant medication was considered but was not given and instead our client was told to attend group therapy.
Two weeks later our client was assessed and it was noted that they were still feeling the same way, despite this nothing was done.
Approximately two weeks after this our client took an overdose of paracetamol tablets and was admitted to hospital where their stomach was pumped. Following this our client was given psychiatric help.
The team at Wellowgate supported the client through the case and although no admissions of liability or causation were made, the defendants agreed to settle the claim for £3,000.
