Repayment of credit card debt on death of a spouse
Mrs Y. came into Bridge McFarland LLP in some distress as her husband, who was also her partner in a small business had died. Unknown to her he had run up some enormous credit card debts in his name alone, and she was being harassed by the companies to repay these, although her late husband had virtually no money.
Our advisor was able to reassure her that only a small amount of the debts needed to be repaid, and we liaised on her behalf with the banks and other creditors, which wrote off almost all amounts. An independent solicitor’s practice will always represent matters to you as they are legally, unlike banks and credit companies.
