Profile
Nicola qualified as a Solicitor in January 2012 having worked in different roles within the legal profession since 1997. Her route to qualification as a solicitor was alongside her full time role within a Hull based law firm.
Upon qualification with a 2:1 law degree Nicola took on a demanding role in another firm in Hull advising a variety of clients on all aspects of clinical negligence covering a wide variety of claims such as dental, orthopaedic, delayed diagnosis of cancer and obstetric/gynaecological claims. She specialises in complex claims involving difficult causation arguments and assessment of damages.
She has a wealth of experience in advising and supporting bereaved families and supporting parents of brain injured children as a result of birth trauma and has acted on a number of successful litigated claims. She has also supported families in Inquests involving aspects of Human Rights law and questions over the cause of death.
Nicola has provided pro bono advice and support to a variety of organisations/charities over the years and enjoys being involved in her local rural community.
“My proudest professional achievement has to be securing compensation to provide financial support to a family of 7 children who lost their mother to cervical cancer which would have been curable, had an opportunity to diagnose not been missed. Whilst no amount of money would replace a young mother the money secured would go some way to provide the grandmother with the support she required to care for the young family as they grew up without the love of their mother.”
