Bridge McFarland LLP has secured a damages settlement of £60,000 for a client who was run over on her birthday at a designated crossing point by a driver who was driving at high speed.
Overview of the Case
Our client, who was a teenager at the time of the accident, was knocked unconscious as a result of the collision and sustained a severe fracture to the pelvis which required surgery. Our client also sustained nasty scarring, temporary damage to the kidneys, and an understandable psychological reaction. There was a risk that our client would develop post-accident arthritis. Her GCSE examinations and studies had to be deferred for a year as a result of the accident.
Our client needed physical and psychological therapy to aid her recovery and a rehabilitation package was put in place which was funded by the driver’s insurance company.
The Outcome
Settlement was agreed including damages for our client’s injuries, for the delay in commencing working career, and for future treatment needs.
James Burrell, Partner and Solicitor who dealt with our client’s case said ‘this was a serious accident, and our client suffered very serious physical injuries requiring major surgery. It’s an immense credit to our client who was very committed to rehabilitation which was funded by the third party insurers and has made a much better than expected recovery. With this settlement our client will be able to move forwards and hopefully the damages will provide our client with some financial security.’
Our client said ‘It has been a great pleasure working with you James and we are truly grateful for all of your time and efforts in ensuring we receive the best outcome. Your professionalism, expertise and clear advice is invaluable hence it was a great relief our case was in good hands. We are deeply grateful for all the care and attention you have provided throughout the long and lengthy process. You have demonstrated that there are solicitors out there who look out for their client by ensuring they receive the best outcome, rather than focusing on their personal gains. We are immensely grateful for your transparency, dedication and kindness you have shown all throughout our time working together.’
