Deep Vein Thrombosis
Our medical negligence team at Bridge McFarland’s Wellowgate office in Grimsby has recently helped a client win damages for delay in diagnosis and treatment of DVT.
We had a client who was involved in an RTA on 7th December 2007. They were taken to A & E and were examined and had an MRI scan and a CT scan. Our client suffered from a fractured shoulder, ankle and bruising to the body of which a notably large bruise on the thigh.
Our client was treated in ITU, where they were examined throughout. On the 10th December, our client was discharged from the hospital but was to be seen by the fracture clinic on the 18th of December. In between these dates our client went to their GP surgery as they were in a lot of pain and at these the medical records show the client had a lot of bruising on the legs.
At the appointment on 18th December, our client was still in a lot of pain but was told they could do light exercises which would help.
On 23rd December 2007, our client died suddenly and a post mortem showed that our client had died from multiple pulmonary emboli which had been not been detected by the medical staff.
Due to this negligent treatment our client was awarded £235,000
