From Grimsby to the Premiership Pathway
Kat’s rugby journey began at just 14 years old at Grimsby Rugby Club, although she didn’t play her first competitive match until she was 18 while studying at university. Since then, her career has gone from strength to strength, representing:

- Leicester Tigers Women
After spotting an open trial for Leicester Tigers while playing at Hull Ionians, Kat never expected to secure a place, but decided to take a chance at the trails. Following a successful trial, she earned her spot in the Leicester Tigers squad, competing in the Championship and Prem Cup, and is now preparing for her Premiership debut following recovery from a knee injury.
Playing for More Than Just the Badge
Playing for Leicester Tigers carries deep personal meaning for Kat. Her father once had the opportunity to play for the club but was unable to pursue it, which makes this achievement even more significant.
“Leicester is my home club and their history of grit and determination really resonates with me. I’m incredibly proud to wear the badge and represent what the club stands for.”
One of Kat’s standout career moments so far was playing at Twickenham in the Championship Final, a memory she describes as unforgettable.
Overcoming Challenges & Breaking Stereotypes
Like many women in sport, Kat has faced stereotypes and negative perceptions, particularly on social media. Growing up in a small town where football dominates also presented limited opportunities.
However, rugby has taught Kat resilience, self-belief and how to channel criticism into motivation.
“Rugby has taught me to be unapologetically myself and to rise above negativity. I use it as fuel to prove people wrong.”
Inspiring the Next Generation
A proud product of grassroots rugby, Kat is passionate about encouraging young girls to get involved in the sport.
“The community at smaller clubs is incredible. I want girls to know that it doesn’t matter where you’re from, with determination and belief, you can reach the highest level.”
She also recognises the continued growth of women’s rugby, particularly since the Rugby World Cup, with increasing crowds and visibility helping move the game closer to becoming fully professional.

Balancing elite rugby alongside full-time work as a midwife (often involving long travel and training commitments) requires huge dedication.
Partnerships and sponsorships play a vital role in enabling athletes like Kat to continue developing while promoting local businesses within wider communities.

Life Beyond Rugby
Away from the pitch, Kat enjoys spending time with family and friends, running and gym training, alongside her rewarding role supporting families as a midwife.
Her matchday routine includes a Starbucks, headphones on, and soaking in the atmosphere before kick-off, with her favourite part of matchday being the build-up, followed closely by meeting fans and inspiring young supporters post-match.
Kat currently plays at Second Row or Number 8.
Looking Ahead
Kat’s goals for the coming season include making her long-awaited Premiership debut, continuing to develop as a consistent Premiership player, and ultimately pursuing her dream of representing England Rugby.
