International Women’s Day takes place on the 08 March each year. It is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a day to raise awareness on discrimination and promote diversity and equality.
At Bridge McFarland LLP 16 of our 29 partners are female and we pride ourselves on equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
This International Women’s Day, Lisa Clark, a Legal Assistant in our Clinical Negligence Team shares her experience of working at Bridge McFarland LLP as she approaches her 30th year with the firm.
“Over the years I have seen many changes at Bridge. Having joined in 1995 at the age of 15, not only has the legal landscape changed but also the way women are empowered to achieve more has grown.
My supervisor, Nicola Evans, Partner in our Clinical Negligence Team cannot be more supportive. Not only has she taught me a great deal in the short time we have worked together she has also provided me such wonderful support on a personal level.
At the age of 45 my life is changing. I am peri-menopausal and find some days quite tough. I feel able to communicate and share my mental health worries with Nicola and the firm’s flexible working approach helps me to complete my work, achieve my day and feel better about things. It’s the simple touches that come naturally to her that I am the most grateful for.
The clinical negligence team at Bridge McFarland is very much female based and we all support each other. The head of our department, Lorraine Taylor is an inspiration and, just like Nicola, is there if I need her.”
Nicola Evans adds “Lisa is a valuable member of the team. Lisa supports me with my cases and communicates well with all our clients and I know that they are in capable hands. As a mother of two, lawyer and partner in the firm, finding the work life balance can be difficult and having a strong female team around me helps with that. I feel fortunate that I work for such a supportive firm that recognises not only hard working, career driven staff but that family life is equally important.”
It is important that women are recognised and Bridge McFarland LLP is proud to support International Women’s Day 2024.
